Merchant Policies

About These Policies

These Merchant Policies explain ordering, production, shipping, returns, damage claims, custom artwork, and related purchasing practices for artwork sold through alexdahov.com.
Most artwork is individually produced after an order is placed. Please review these policies before purchasing.

1. Made-to-Order Artwork

Most fine-art pieces are produced specifically for each customer based on the artwork, size, material, finish, framing, or configuration selected at the time of purchase.

Available presentation options may include:

  • Fine-art paper
  • Canvas
  • Acrylic
  • Metal
  • Framed presentations
  • Large-format and multi-piece configurations where available

Because artwork is made to order, it is not produced as mass inventory and may not be eligible for return simply because a customer changes their mind.

2. Production Times

Typical production time is up to 5 business days before shipment.

Fine-art paper orders may sometimes be produced within approximately 1–2 business days.

Production times are estimates and may vary because of artwork size, material, framing, custom specifications, production volume, holidays, or material availability.

Large-format, custom, or multi-piece projects may require additional production time.

3. Shipping

Shipping within the United States is currently offered free of charge unless otherwise stated for a particular order or project.

Typical shipping transit time may be up to approximately 5 business days after production is completed.

Delivery dates are estimates rather than guarantees.

Carrier delays, weather, holidays, destination restrictions, oversized artwork handling, or other circumstances outside our control may affect delivery.

4. International Shipping

Worldwide shipping may be available.
International customers are responsible for any applicable customs duties, import taxes, brokerage fees, VAT, or other destination-country charges unless otherwise specifically stated in writing.
International transit times may vary substantially depending on the destination and customs processing.
Please contact us before ordering if you need assistance confirming international delivery options for a particular artwork or size.

5. Shipping Addresses

Customers are responsible for providing a complete and accurate shipping address.

Please review the delivery address carefully before completing an order.

If an address needs to be corrected, contact us as soon as possible at:

projects@alexdahov.com

Once an order has entered production or shipping, an address change may not always be possible.

6. Large and Oversized Artwork

Large-format acrylic, metal, canvas, framed works, and multi-piece installations may require specialized packaging or freight arrangements.
Someone may need to be available to receive oversized shipments.
Customers should inspect large shipments promptly upon arrival and retain all packaging until the artwork has been examined and confirmed to be in good condition.

7. Returns

Because artwork is custom produced to order, returns are generally not accepted for reasons such as:

  • Change of mind
  • Incorrect size selected by the customer
  • Preference for another artwork
  • Preference for another material or finish
  • Differences caused by monitor or screen display

This policy does not limit remedies that may be required under applicable law.

If you are uncertain about artwork, scale, material, or finish before ordering, please contact us first. Project guidance and visual mockups may be available to help with the selection process.

8. Cancellations

Because production may begin shortly after an order is received, cancellation may not always be possible.
If you need to request a cancellation, contact us as soon as possible.
Once production has begun, the order may no longer be eligible for cancellation.
For custom, large-format, project, or specially configured orders, cancellation terms may also be specified in the corresponding proposal, invoice, or written agreement.

9. Damaged Artwork

If artwork arrives damaged, please contact us promptly.

Include:

  • Your name
  • Order number
  • Photographs of the damaged artwork
  • Photographs of the exterior packaging
  • Photographs of the interior packaging
  • A brief description of the damage

Please retain all original packaging until the claim has been resolved.

When damage is confirmed, an appropriate replacement will be arranged.

Do not discard damaged artwork or packaging until instructed to do so.

10. Defective or Incorrect Orders

If you receive artwork that is defective or materially different from what you ordered, contact us promptly.
After reviewing the issue, we will work with you to arrange an appropriate replacement or other remedy where applicable.

11. Color and Appearance

Fine-art photography may appear somewhat different in physical form than it does on a computer, tablet, or phone screen.

Differences may result from:

  • Screen calibration
  • Device brightness
  • Ambient lighting
  • Material selection
  • Surface reflectivity
  • Print size
  • Viewing distance
  • Production characteristics

Acrylic, metal, canvas, and fine-art paper each present color, depth, contrast, texture, and reflection differently.

These natural presentation differences are not considered defects.

12. Artwork Scale and Placement

Customers are responsible for confirming that selected artwork dimensions are appropriate for the intended wall and installation location.
When requested, we may provide guidance regarding scale, placement, finish, or visual mockups.
Mockups are intended as planning aids and may not represent exact physical dimensions, lighting, wall color, or installation conditions.

13. Custom Sizes and Project Orders

Custom sizes, large-format work, triptychs, multi-piece installations, hospitality projects, workplace projects, residential projects, and other project-specific orders may require individual pricing and written confirmation.
Custom project orders may be subject to separate production, shipping, payment, approval, cancellation, and installation terms.
Where a project proposal or written agreement differs from these general Merchant Policies, the project-specific written terms will control for that order.

14. Visual Mockups

Visual mockups may be provided to help evaluate artwork, scale, placement, and finish.
Mockups are illustrative and should not be interpreted as exact architectural drawings or guarantees of color, scale, illumination, or final installed appearance.
Final wall measurements and installation conditions remain the responsibility of the customer or project team.

15. Installation

Professional installation may be appropriate for large, heavy, framed, acrylic, metal, or multi-piece artwork.
Customers are responsible for confirming that walls, mounting hardware, anchors, installation methods, and installers are suitable for the artwork and building conditions.
Any installation or placement guidance provided by Alex Dahov is informational and does not replace professional installation advice.

16. Limited Editions and Certificates

Where an artwork is identified as a limited edition, the applicable edition information will be provided with the artwork or product description.
A certificate of authenticity or limited-edition certificate may accompany qualifying artwork.
Edition availability may change as pieces are sold.

17. Signature

Artwork may include an artist signature according to the selected presentation, production method, artwork, or edition.
Signature placement and method may vary depending on the format.

18. Pricing

Prices may change without notice.

Pricing may vary by:

  • Artwork
  • Size
  • Material
  • Finish
  • Framing
  • Configuration
  • Shipping destination
  • Custom project requirements

A quoted project price is valid according to the terms stated in the corresponding proposal or communication.

19. Payment

Orders must be paid using the payment options offered through the website or through another payment arrangement specifically approved for a project.
Payments may be processed through third-party providers such as WooPayments, PayPal, credit-card processors, or other supported services.
Payment processing is also subject to the terms of the applicable payment provider.

20. Project Pricing and Trade Relationships

Interior designers, architects, hospitality teams, developers, and other project professionals may contact us regarding:

  • Project pricing
  • Multi-piece artwork packages
  • Custom sizing
  • Finish recommendations
  • Visual mockups
  • Large-format installations
  • Trade or designer relationships

Project terms may differ from standard retail ecommerce orders and will be confirmed separately where applicable.

21. Intellectual Property

Purchase of physical artwork does not transfer copyright or reproduction rights.

Artwork may be displayed in the purchased environment, but images may not be reproduced, licensed, copied, commercially distributed, used on merchandise, or otherwise exploited without written permission.

For additional information, please see our Terms & Conditions.

22. Privacy

Information provided when making purchases, submitting inquiries, or communicating with us is handled according to our Privacy Policy.

23. Policy Updates

These Merchant Policies may be updated periodically as production methods, shipping providers, ecommerce services, or business practices change.
The current version will be published on this page with the applicable “Last updated” date.
